Bitcoin Staking with Provalidator
Babylon launched mainnet in April 2025 as the first protocol enabling native Bitcoin staking. Your BTC remains on the Bitcoin network in self-custodial time-locked contracts—no bridges, no wrapped tokens, no counterparty risk. Provalidator participates in this groundbreaking infrastructure.
Why Stake BTC through Babylon
Over $1 trillion in Bitcoin sits idle. Babylon unlocks this capital, allowing BTC holders to earn yield by securing Proof of Stake chains while maintaining full custody. The protocol uses cryptographic techniques—not bridges—to enable slashing enforcement.
Babylon Staking Details
Staking uses native Bitcoin Taproot transactions. The unbonding period is approximately 50 hours (1008 Bitcoin blocks). Slashing uses Extractable One-Time Signatures (EOTS)—if validators misbehave, their BTC can be cryptographically slashed. Current slashing is partial (0.1%).
Self-Custodial Security
Your Bitcoin never leaves the Bitcoin network. Staking contracts use native Tapscript, not smart contracts on other chains. This eliminates bridge exploits that have cost billions in DeFi. Major exchanges like Kraken now offer Babylon BTC staking.
